Base2Summit Program Staff

B2S Program Staff are responsible for delivering safe, meaningful, and transformative adventure-based experiences for young adults impacted by cancer. Program Staff work as part of a collaborative instructional team to facilitate programming that supports personal growth, community connection, and resilience through shared outdoor experiences.

This role requires strong leadership, adaptability, critical thinking, and a service-oriented mindset. Program Staff are expected to maintain both the physical and emotional safety of participants while navigating dynamic environments, varied group needs, and changing conditions in outdoor settings. The program staff positions are paid positions with compensation rates based on previous field experience.

This role is seasonal contract work. Compensation is based on experience, certifications, and role in program (Lead staff verse support staff)

 

Program Staff tasks and responsibilities:

  • Deliver and support adventure-based programming as the primary vehicle for participant learning, connection, and growth.
  • Maintain the physical and emotional safety of participants and staff, including assessing environmental hazards, managing risk, and responding to emergencies.
  • Facilitate group dynamics, community living, and educational experiences, adapting instruction to varied learning styles and participant abilities.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to plan, prepare, and implement programs, including curriculum development, logistics, food planning, and equipment preparation.
  • Model Base2Summit values through professionalism, leadership, service, and inclusive community-building.
  • Strong emotional awareness and boundary-setting skills, including the ability to support participants without over-identifying or defaulting to caretaking behaviors.
  • Ability to move and carry supplies, gear, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
