DESCRIPTION:3 Days!! Friday\, September 25th\, Saturday\, September 26th\, and Sunday\, September 27th\, 2020\nThis year’s Glow Run has a fun little twist to it. We are anticipating a tremendous response\, so we need your participation\, are you ready to Step Up to the challenge??? \nThe Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation’s 9th Annual Virtual Glow Run will be a 10 million step challenge. Our 3-day theme is “helping young adults walking through survivorship\, one step at a time”. During registration participants will be able to pledge how many total steps they plan on taking that Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday combined. Updates to the progress towards the 10 million step goal will be posted daily at WWW.CHSCF.org   \nWhy 10 million steps? Each year about 70\,000 young adults ages 15-39 in the United States are diagnosed with cancer\, in the last 50 years the survival rates for this group have NOT improved! We also decided to stretch out the Glow Run to 3 days this year to help create awareness for our mission; with those three numbers we came up with our goal.   70\,000 young adults X 50 years X 3 days = 10.5 million steps! (Our PR Pro’s told us 10 Million steps sounds better\, so we rounded down\, you’re welcome!)\nThe weekend of the event\, we will have a couple 5k courses marked at Baypoint Beach inside Stony Creek Metropark and the Iron Belle Trail starting at Jimmy John’s Field\, Belfor right field gate. Feel free to take advantage of these two courses\, or utilize your favorite route\, or walk out your front door to achieve your step commitment; we’re on the honor system here\, so what you commit to is considered done….\nYou can sign up as an individual\, put together a team\, walk\, run\, jog\, it doesn’t matter. SUMMARY:Cancer and Careers Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Looking to get back into the working world after cancer but are unsure of the next steps? The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation\, in partnership with Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit and Cancer and Careers\, are putting on a workshop to assist young adults in their career hunt after cancer. \n  \nWhat do I have to tell my employer? Is there certain information I need to know when filling out my medical benefits? Can I jump right back into the field? These and much more are valid questions that a young adult who has battled cancer might ask when looking to get back in the workforce. \n  \nWe have created a workshop to help answer those questions and alleviate some of the stress that comes along with the job searching process. Sarah Goodell\, Manager of Programs from Cancer and Careers\, will host the workshop and help guide you in the right direction when it comes to workforce development after cancer. \n  \nThe workshop takes place on Tuesday\, May 17 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit in Royal Oak. DESCRIPTION:The Michigan State University (MSU) Dance Marathon Organization partners up with local charities and donates the proceeds generated during their signature dance marathon to the worthwhile cause. They have decided to partner with CHSCF since Cassie was a Spartan\, battled cancer\, and inspired many others to fight the good fight. The Dance is on Saturday April 11\, 2015 at the IM Center in East Lansing\, Michigan. It starts at 12pm and runs until 12 midnight and is only open to current MSU students.

DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 3rd Annual Race in These Shoes was another great success!  We started the afternoon with about 100 walkers in the Sandal Stroll then moved into our signature Stiletto Strut.  All Strutters put on stilettos and got out of their comfort zone as a small way to understand what a young adult with cancer goes through.\nOur Glow Run started at dusk with over 400 participants that braved a torrential downpour!  This was a new theme for us and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive despite the rain.\nWe look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s Glow Run which will be held at Stony Creek Metropark on Saturday\, September 19\, 2015. \n\nThanks to all of our participants\, sponsors and volunteers that made this a great event! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n  \n\nMEET AND SUPPORT OUR AWESOME SPONSORS!\n  \nPump\nThe “Pump” level is our premier level. “Pump” level sponsors will have their logo displayed on the back of our event t-shirts\, on our sponsors banner\, and on our website. SUMMARY:Race in These Shoes 2012
DESCRIPTION:Our very first fundraising event RACE IN THESE SHOES was an overwhelming success.  Thanks to all our volunteers\, sponsors and dedicated supporters CHSCF raised over $20\,000. \n  \nThe morning began with a timed 5K race; “Sneaker Scamper” certified by Hanson Race Management\, followed with a one-mile walk “Sandal Stroll” and the hilarious “Stiletto Strut”.  The Stiletto promenade highlighted men and women in fancy shoes strutting their stuff around a 200 meter paved trail.  Everyone enjoyed a classic back yard barbeque meal while taking in the beautiful of Stoney Creek Metro Park. \nThank you again to our many sponsors\, volunteers and dedicated supporters for making this annual event a fantastic day.
